Why donate to the Tutorpedia Foundation?  Here is what some of our donors think:

Dawn and Steve Mesite (Bedford, MA)

Getting married was an amazing experience for us. Surrounded by so many people we love, in a beautiful location, celebrating a new beginning in our life together... we've never felt so blessed. Perhaps it was this magnification of our blessings that made it feel so important to share what we have. We knew that a charitable donation in lieu of favors was the right choice for us.

When we researched the Tutorpedia Foundation, we learned that this organization is dedicated to serving students who may be unable to meet the financial challenge associated with hiring a tutor. I'm a teacher, and know firsthand the impact that a little extra support can have on a student. Steve and I both recognize the important role that education has played in our own lives. We are so pleased that we were able to include a donation to Tutorpedia as part of our wedding celebration.

In the past, Karen and I have been what I would call "shotgun donors." Our goal was to be generous with our money, but we gave some to whoever solicited us. Giving that way lacked the satisfaction of supporting a cause about which we had passion and which excelled at the work it did. Over the past two years, our giving has become much more focused and the Tutorpedia Foundation is high on our list. In talking to its leaders and in learning what they do, I have been impressed by a striking combination of expertise and passion. Providing a creative and meaningful supplement to formal classroom teaching is a real need in 2011. Our own personal observations validate the work of Tutorpedia. Our oldest son, Michael, was an elementary school teacher from 2005-2010. As committed as he was, he struggled with too large a class and too little District support. In retrospect, we see how both he and his students could have benefitted from the work of Tutorpedia. We need to help Tutorpedia reach more students like Michael's.

For us, there is true pleasure in supporting Tutorpedia. Their work is outstanding, we feel valued as donors, and we know that our gifts are having an impact. Isn't that why each of us gives?

Andrea and Jason Spero (San Francisco, CA)

Andrea and Jason SperoJason and I are so impressed with the commitment of the Tutorpedia staff to provide meaningful, personalized tutoring to all students. Unfortunately access to college is all too often dependent on access to services such as SAT tutors. As a teacher and parent, I know that meaningful and successful tutoring means building a relationship with students. The folks at Tutorpedia get that! They understand that all students have a right to these services and that for tutoring to have an impact a personalized approach is essential. We are so proud to support the critical work of the Tutorpedia Foundation.

I have known the founder of Tutorpedia, Seth Linden, for a very long time.  The Tutorpedia Foundation is a brilliant idea with great visions, and Seth and his staff have the courage to pursue these aspirations.  When Tutorpedia began, I knew success would be just around the corner for his students.  The opportunity to provide funding for his dream of a Class of One - a tutor for every student - was an honor that I was pleased to have.  I can only hope that the Tutorpedia Foundation continues to help students overcome barriers and succeed in their education.  Knowledge is Power.  And I'm pleased to be part of Tutorpedia's goal.
